Poole: Barber?s Piles
One of the most extraordinarily named streets, Barber's Piles amounts to a short terrace of houses surrounded by a gyratory system. See Image for a view of the nameplate, at the other end of the road.

Poole: minor flooding in West Street
Recent heavy rain, particularly overnight last night, has left a large puddle across West Street on the approach to Poole Bridge. In fact the pavement on the right is impassable, partly thanks to the railings. The wake of the car actually lessens the impression of the depth across the centre of the road. West Street is a one-way street and this car is taking the middle lane, to cross Poole Bridge, rather than the left-hand lane for the quayside or the right-hand lane to double back northwards.

Old Town, Poole: West End House, 2 St James Close
Mid C18; one of the houses built in the first period of Poole's C18 prosperity, and one of the finest examples of a local merchant's house of the period. Built for George Slade, the house is elaborately decorated with stone pineapples, demonstrating the Slade family's great wealth.
