Weymouth - Bournemouth train approaching Branksome
View - in pouring rain - westward, towards Poole and Weymouth, also Broadstone, the S&D, Wimborne etc.: ex-LSW Weymouth main line. The 12.10 from Weymouth is headed by rebuilt Bulleid Light Pacific No. 34039 'Boscastle' (built 9/46 as No. 21C139, renumbered 6/48, rebuilt 1/59, withdrawn 5/65, but preserved on the Great Central (Heritage) Railway at Loughborough.

Branksome Railway Hotel
2009 Good Beer Guide-listed pub on Poole Road, overlooking the railway; built in 1894 for Marston's Dolphin Brewery. Internally, L-shaped bar with three drinking areas around it. Branksome: replacement postbox in Lindsay Road
I took a photo of this postbox two years ago (see Image) but careful scrutiny of that picture and this will reveal that it is not the same box. The earlier one bears the cipher of King Edward VII, while the current one is George V.
