Unmistakably in the style of the Midland Railway: compare Image for a similar set at Kirkby Stephen, and Image at Garsdale, all on the same line. Dating presumably from the 1870s when the line opened. See also Image

Running Through Settle
Passing the signal box with the station ahead. Visible beyond the signal box is the Midland Railway water tank - which remains in situ in 2013 despite the rest of the yard being given over to small industrial units. Sitting on the up line is a freight behind a class 40 locomotive. The load looks to be rock salt which would be a much needed commodity with winter approaching in the Pennines.
