Generator building, Kettlewell
The building on the far side of the beck just above Kettlewell village centre was the village's independent generating station, using water power, in the early 20th century until mains electricity arrived. The pillars that supported the inlet pipe can be seen alongside the wall to the right.

Icicles on a house in Kettlewell
Leaky gutters were probably the cause of some quite spectacular icicles on this house. It was reported locally that overnight temperatures in the north of England in the first week of December 2010 had been as low as -17C, and certainly not getting above freezing during the day.

According to the OS benchmark database there is a benchmark cut into the north west face of the porch and on the left corner. Despite a good search amongst the foliage nothing was found.

Scarecrows doing Yoga, Kettlewell
A trio of scarecrows are partaking in a yoga class in Kettlewell. They are part of the annual scarecrow festival in the village in which villagers create scarecrows to entice visitors to the village and raise money for local causes.

Houses and gardens on Middle Lane
The south-facing gardens run down to the Cam Beck. The direction can be deduced from the orientation of the satellite dish and the lack of shadows in the photograph. The gardener is a scarecrow!
