New steps adjacent to Dewhursts Mill
The building on the left, according to a nearby plaque, was built in the 1830s and officially called Belle Vue Mill, but commonly known as Dewhurst's after its founder. It was used for the production of sewing cotton, later under the 'Sylko' brand, until 1983. The chimney was demolished in 1993 and the main building converted for residential use. These steps are at the west end of the mill and lead up to the canal towpath.

Skipton ways [3]
From Broughton Road, this pathway runs alongside Dewhurst's Mill and up to the towpath of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. Skipton is a market town in North Yorkshire, some 27 miles northwest of Leeds. On the southern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, it is now an important tourist destination. The town expanded after the construction of Skipton Castle in the 11th century. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal runs through the town and the River Aire flows just to the southwest. The name Skipton means 'sheep-town'.

The Springs Branch, Skipton
The Springs Branch is a short arm of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in the heart of Skipton, North Yorkshire. It runs to the back of Skipton Castle, where stone from local quarries was at one time loaded onto barges to be taken to Leeds.

Brewery Swing Bridge No 177, Skipton, Yorkshire
The most easterly of four swing bridges lying immediately to the west of Skipton on the Leeds and Liverpool canal. This bridge, seen here from the west, carries a large volume of motor traffic, as it is on a very useful 'cut-through' between two roads out of Skipton.
