Old milestone
This West Riding CC milestone on the A629 is one of those set up in 1893/94 along what had been a tollroad between Keighley and Halifax. The tollroad lasted from 1819-1867. This one has lost its backing stone and is attached to the stone wall. With the pavement built up the distance to Hebden Bridge, 9 MILES, is below tarmac level.
