Mounting block outside the Priory
One can imagine parishioners of old riding to morning worship, staying at the inn next door for a drink or two and then having to be helped onto their mounts for the journey home.

The Priory at Whitechapel
This pub, formerly the Brown Cow, was still obviously open in 2009, see Image, and CAMRA recorded it as still trading in 2016, but now looks as if it may be in private occupation, although the William Youngers sign is still present.

Cleckheaton Whitechapel, Norman font
This font was in use from the 12th to 17th centuries, and again from 1880 to the present day. The carved figures on this side include a "sheila-na-gig".
