Cleckheaton fire station
Cleckheaton fire station, Hightown Road, Cleckheaton , West Yorkshire, is tucked away behind the trees, and easy to miss if you're driving past. The only give away is the yellow box painted on the road outside.

This path is a short one leading to Hightown Road. The fencing is new, and it will be interesting to see why the area on the left has been fenced off. The wall is the retaining wall for the disused railway (now cycle path).

The space over the beck has been used by putting a cabin up on girders. In the foreground, a sewerage pipe (I assume) crosses the beck.

I would date these to the early 19C, when ashlar stone was used on better-class houses, and before the decoration of the later 19C. On the left is a later house with comfortable-looking bay windows.
