On Cleckheaton Road, Oakenshaw, right next to the M606, which runs behind it. Built in 1889 at a cost of £4500.

St Andrew's Church, Bradford Road, Oakenshaw
The ecclesiastical parish of Oakenshaw cum Woodlands was created in 1877, with a territory carved out of the neighbouring parishes. At first, a mission room was opened in Woodlands, and then the present church was built and was consecrated on 24 April 1889. It is in the Early English style. The Low Moor Iron Company and the Kaye family were the principal donors.

The Oakenshaw Cross
The Oakenshaw Cross was erected in 1702, by the lord of the manor Dr Richardson of Bierley Hall. It stands in the middle of Wyke Lane, in memory of his wife who died in 1702.

Site of Oakenshaw Cross
Removed in 2022 after being hit by a lorry. Apparently the historic cross is in store in a council yard - villagers cannot understand why the lorry insurers have not been forced to re-instate the cross.

The site of the removed Oakenshaw Cross, Wyke Lane, Oakenshaw
At the time this photo was taken a campaign was underway to get the cross restored to this location. Kirklees Council had removed it in March 2022 for safety reasons. A close-up of the campaign posted here can be seen in Image
