These shops are some of Nelson's oldest. The A56 road was previously routed right in front of them, but is now diverted up to the right, so the shops are effectively in a pedestrianised area. The road down to the left is Stanley Street.

Now that the building of Nelson's new Transport Interchange has been completed, it is possible to take a decent photograph of the impressive Station Hotel. Although still open as a public house, I somehow doubt whether accommodation is available now.
