The old Co-op, Colne, Lancashire
The fine building in the centre of this block formed the main building of the Colne Co-operative Society. The Co-operative movement was very strong in this area of Lancashire until prices were undercut by modern supermarket selling.

Barclays Bank, Colne, Lancashire
In the Victorian period, bank buildings were solid and well executed as if to demonstrate to the public, the probity of the bankers concerned. This splendid example has of course since been treated insensitively with the addition of blue and white plastic signs. The next building up the hill is the old Colne Co-op building.
