Clitheroe railway station, Lancashire
Opened in 1850 on the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway's line from Blackburn to Hellifield, this station closed to passengers in 1962. It was rebuilt and reopened in 1994.
View north east towards Chatburn and Hellifield. The original station building on the right had become a gallery when this image was taken.

Railway from Blackburn approaching Clitheroe, 1986
View NE from the B6243 bridge: ex-L&Y Blackburn - Hellifield (Ribble Valley) secondary main line. Regular passenger services on this line ceased from 10/9/62, but it has remained open for freight and (except 2/71 - 5/90) for special and diverted passenger trains. From 29/5/94 Clitheroe station was reopened again for a regular service to Blackburn. In this 1986 photograph, the platforms can just be discerned in the distance.
