Crawshawbooth: The 'Black Dog'
Lively pub in the village centre.
In pub cribbage, there is a code of very strict rules known as the 'Black Dog' rules. Whether these originated at this pub, or at the 'Black Dog' at Lane Head, Rochdale (now long closed and replaced by a more modern 'Black Dog' lower down the hill), I do not know. Another case where local knowledge would help.
