New Housing Development at Cowpe
Kearns Village is the name of a new development of houses at Cowpe. They are built on the site of the former Kearns Mill which dated back to the eighteenth century but was demolished in 2015. See Image] for a photograph of the mill taken in 2006.

Kearns Mill
This is all that is left of the old Kearns Woollen Mill. In October 2006 the local council approved plans, by local building developers Hurstwood's, to build 19 apartments and 20 houses at the disused wool mill on Cowpe Road, despite strong opposition from a number of villagers, who said that 39 more homes was too many for the village to deal with. Since then the developers have pulled out and the old mill has been left in the state it is today. A picture of Kearns Mill can be seen before it was demolished in Image
