Ilex Mill, Rawtenstall
Adaptively reused textile mill. The block on the right looks new and has balconies - aaargh! The sections to the left are original and quite nicely done. The chimney is a gorgeous survivor and would have been a sad loss. Keeping these potent symbols is not a light undertaking as they need lifelong care and bits falling off can have major consequences.
