Halo at Night
Halo, designed by John Kennedy of LandLab, is an 18 metre-diameter,circular steel structure, raised 7 metres off the ground on a tripod. On the 20th September 2007 the 'Halo' was officially opened at a spectacular event on Top o' Slate above the town of Haslingden. Directed by international theatre company WildWorks, the event involved many local people and community groups and culminated in the inaugural lighting of 'Halo' against the night sky. Image

A Close Encounter
This is one of several panopticons to be built on prominent viewpoints across East Lancashire. This one, known as "The Halo", sits above Haslingden and when finished will glow blue into the night sky. But watch where you are going when driving on the nearby A56.
