Helmshore: The 'Station'
There has been no station, or even a railway, in Helmshore since 1966, but the memory lingers on in the name of this pub. Ironically there is now a desire to provide railway facilities again to places such as Haslingen, Helmshore etc - rather difficult, as they covered much of the railway trackbed with a dual-carriageway road. The spire of St. Thomas's Church can be seen in the background.

Helmshore: The 'Signal Box'
Well, it looks a bit like a signal box, and it's on the line of the old railway, BUT... (1)The old L&Y would never have built its signal boxes to such a high standard - they were mostly draughty wooden affairs on a brick base, and (2)I don't think there ever was a signal box in that exact location, although I will stand to be corrected on that one.
