There used to be another pub on the right hand side which has been demolished and the site is being redeveloped with a building which will over power it and the rest of that side of the street

Memorial fountain, Fleming Square
This granite fountain inscribed "Erected by the friends of the late George Dewhurst" was originally placed in a wall of the old market house in Blackburn in 1858. In 1935 it was moved to a new position underneath Darwen Street bridge where it had fallen into a somewhat dilapidated state. http://www.cottontown.org/page.cfm?LANGUAGE=eng&pageID=2970
