In St Catherine's Church
Parishioners tidy up after the Sunday Parish Mass. The church, on the Todmorden Road, was designed by the Manchester architect James Medland Taylor and opened in 1897. It is under the episcopal jurisdiction of the Bishop of Burnley. The full dedication is to St Catherine with St Alban and St Paul. Pevsner, who surveyed "the rural north" of Lancashire in 1969, dismissed it as "not of special interest" architecturally.
