St James's Street, Burnley ? 1967
Now pedestrianised https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/849685 , it was still a main thoroughfare at that time. The Charter Walk shopping centre was still quite new. Bus 48 of the Burnley Colne and Nelson Joint Committee's fleet is of interest as it was one of the very last single-deck buses of the traditional style with engine at the front to built built for service in the UK, entering service in 1955. By that time the standard single deck bus type had an underfloor engine with entrance alongside the driver for convenient one-person operation. Although the BCN bus had been converted for OPO, this was very awkward for the driver in his separate cab. The bus is a Leyland Tiger PS2 with East Lancs bodywork. This is one of a series of views featuring buses in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=137652761
