Queen Street Mill, Harrison Street
A typical side view of a cotton weaving shed. The wall hides a north-light (ridge and valley) roof. The drain pipes drain the valleys and consequently don't go to the top of the wall. They increase in height away from the photographer as the near end of the shed is partly below ground level. There is a device over each drain head to discourage idiots from getting on the roof - it's fragile and they could hurt themselves. The site is now a textile museum with a working steam engine.
