Tomb, St Nicholas Church, Henstridge
15th Century tomb of William Cavent and his wife Margaret. It is in good order and much of the original colours remain. The heads have been badly mutilated, probably in Cromwell's time.

A record of grants
A wooden plaque records some historical financial aid. St Nicholas' church was extensively rebuilt in 1872-3 by James Mountford Allen, who included a few wall sections from the older churches that stood here before.

South porch of St Nicholas
Although rebuilt in the Victorian era, the porch has some details that reflect the styles of the past. As with many, the outer doors are secured with mesh to keep flying pests out.

Church open
A welcome from St Nicholas, with a touch of bunting. The church was largely rebuilt in 1872-3 but the old tower was completely rebuilt in 1900 by an E. Buckle.

A ship vane
At the top of the tower of St Nicholas is an unusual weathervane. The ship was made by and donated in 1946 by personnel who served with H.M.S. Dipper, stationed on R.N.A.S Henstridge. The airfield served during WWII and is still an active base.
