Benedict Street and St Benedict's Church, Glastonbury
Looking east along Benedict Street (towards the town centre) with the tower of St Benedict's Church dominating the road. St Benedicts school is on the left, hence the old-fashioned "School" sign. The familiar landmark of St Michael's tower on top of the Tor is peeking up above the houses in the centre of the photo.

Caps, shorts, satchels and a purposeful stride schoolwards - it looks a bit dated now, but I guess it was slightly idealised even when the sign was new.

St Benedict's Church, Glastonbury
The church was originally dedicated to St. Benignus or St. Bennings and retained this until the middle of the 17th century. Bishop Benignus was a great friend and disciple of St. Patrick and became his successor. Website http://www.stbens.ukpc.net/
