Victorian Ironmonger, Shepton Mallet
The shop with distinctive red and blue ironwork, named S. Grant-Jones & Co Ironmonger, in located on Market Place. It is one of several previously empty shops in Shepton Mallet transformed into ironmongers, bakers, butchers, upholsterers and grocers as they would have looked in the 1870s. Families have moved into the shops to live and work to show what it was like to be doing their present-day jobs 140 years ago for a new prime time BBC shopping history series, scheduled to be broadcast in late 2010.
