2010 : Road repairs on "The Street" Chilcompton
Heading for the top of the hill for a few geographs I was redirected by a kind gentleman who advised me I would be unable to get through this way - he was right!
The lorry appears to be delivering tar.

The Street, Chilcompton
The older part of the village, tucked away off the main road, contains mainly pleasant old houses, together with later infill which varies in its sensitivity to the location.

2010 : The roadworks are a coming
Was tempted to call this "A Gentleman of the road" he was directing traffic away from approaching road surfacing vehicles in a polite and easy manner.

The Pitching Chilcompton
This attractive lane has the brook running down it which becomes the river Somer.

Along The Pitching
The River Somer rises near the Old Down Inn and runs through the valley that Chilcompton occupies. Occasional little weirs lend the sound of running water to the path.

Waterfall and bus shelter, Chilcompton
The bus shelter is brightly painted inside, like some others in the village. The small waterfall is an attractive feature and attracts wildlife you might not often see in a village - a grey wagtail appeared shortly after this photo was taken.
