The Oliver, Bath
The plaque over the doorway of this pub on the corner of Green Street and Broad Street commemorates Dr William Oliver, chief physician in 1740. His great claim to fame is the invention of the Oliver biscuit, which he prescribed for his patients under his dietary treatment included in the drinking of the mineral waters of Bath. www.cityofbath.co.uk/history/body_williamoliverbath_.html

Pignacious, Bath
A rather annoyed-looking Roman centurion, Pignacious graces a pavement alcove by St Michael's church at the junction of Broad Street and Northgate Street. Designed by Belinda, Harriet & Philip Bouchard, he is one of "King Bladud’s Pigs in Bath" http://www.kingbladudspigs.org/pigs/showpig.php?pig_id=49 .

St Michael's church, Bath
Not the first church on this prominent site on Northgate Street, the building dates from 1835-7, with "a crazy west tower, tall and narrow with a huge group of three stepped lancets, buttresses with the stepped set-offs of Wells, and at the top a tall octagonal open lantern with spire" (Pevsner, "North Somerset & Bristol", 1958).
