Broadstones and little stones
The road sign has some attractive flowers to brighten it up, but look closer and there is a small painted pebble on it too. There were several such hand-crafted stones dotted around the village.

Monkton Farleigh school
The village has a history of education, beginning with a number of small and separate schoolrooms in the late 1800s. A National School was founded in the 1870s, which in turn added a new school in 1886. Pupil numbers were good until the late twentieth century; things did not improve thereafter so the school merged with the one at Atworth, now being known as Churchfields on both.
