19 New King Street, Bath
Nothing distinguishes this house architecturally from the rest in this modest terrace, built 1764-70, but it is distinguished by its most celebrated occupant, William Herschel, the astronomer. In 1781, looking through a self-built telescope in the back garden he discovered a new world, Uranus. The building now houses the Herschel Museum. Grade II* listed.

Interior, The Chapel of St Michael Within
The Chapel of St Michael (Within the Walls) is the Chapel of St John's Hospital. The present Chapel was designed by Willian Killigrew in 1716, and built the following year. While the shell of the Chapel is much as it was in 1717, the fittings are much later. The windows were originally plain but the present tracery and stained glass was inserted in 1879.
