Watch box, Norfolk Crescent, Bath
Dated c1810, restored in the 1890s. The listing observes that it is "a very rare survival of this building type, revealing a high level of architectural finish". Grade II* listed.
The watchman inside must have represented the thin line between the genteel residents of the crescent behind (Image]) and local vagabonds and footpads.

Norfolk Crescent
One of Bath's prime Georgian city features, it was built around 1793-1822 and designed by John Plamer; further work was done by John Pinch. Despite the north end being badly damaged in WWII bombing, the frontage has been rebuilt in keeping. Grade II* listed.

Norfolk Crescent, Bath
Bath's Georgian builders certainly liked their curves. Another fantastically stately terrace, excellently proportioned, with characteristic emphases at the centre - pediment and pilasters (Image]) - and the ends - pilasters only. Attic storey above a continuous cornice. Wrought-iron balconies (Image]). Begun by John Palmer from 1792-1810, but completed by John Pinch, who was probably responsible for the ironwork. Several houses rebuilt in 1958 after bomb damage in 1942. Grade II* listed.
