Athenaeum Centre, Warminster
Built in 1857 at 18-20 High Street, The Athenaeum has had a varied history of usage, from a literary institution, to a cinema and now a centre for the community. It now hosts to a range of community groups, classes and activities within its many rooms. The Centre is held in Trust by and for the people of Warminster and is operated by a dedicated team of volunteers.

Athenaeum Centre
According to the plaque on the wall, this building opened in 1858 as a library and reading room. It was the Palace Cinema from 1912 to 1964, then an arts centre, and from 1969 to 1997, a theatre. It has been a Community Centre since 2000.

Bustard at the Athenaeum
The Warminster Art Society is "a group of enthusiastic volunteers who love art and meet to share this passion." In keeping with a number of similar projects in the South West they have created a number of large sculptures that have been located in various places around the town. The birds are initially white glass fibre resin but are painted imaginatively and money is raised for a local charity.
The bustard features on the flag of Wiltshire and recently has been reintroduced in the wild around Salisbury Plain.
