Zeals: postbox № BA12 71, White Cross
This small Elizabeth II-reign postbox (which we can say is post-1994 because it is inscribed ROYAL MAIL rather than POST OFFICE above the slot) serves the northern straggling parts of Zeals village and is emptied at noon on weekdays and at 9am on Saturdays. Chapel Lane ahead of us represents the most straightforward route into the village centre but the lane off to our right is an alternative.

A supper image and some family history
A curious collection of stones leaning against a barn wall appears to have the lineage of a family through many wars. Above it is a cast scene from the Last Supper, bearing the Latin inscription 'Amen dico vobis quia unus vestrum me traditurus est'. It is a recreation of Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting.

Totally unsuitable!
A notice warns motorists of large vehicles that the route ahead is tricky. Interestingly, the notice is provided by the local parish council, not the Highways department.

A frothy rainfall
The heavy storms of February have swollen the waters of the Stour, leading to some fallen lumber and froth.

A small group of stepping stones
There are a few stones to help progress over the Stour's little tributary. By summer, they may not be needed.
