The Mere Library and Museum is situated in an old school building, which was built by Dean Pearson of Salisbury in 1839, which is commemorated on a plaque which adorns the outside wall.

The 1899 school https://www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1130753 : "A vigorous and assured building, very characteristic of the turn of the century; built at the expense of Miss Julia Chafyn Grove at a cost of £2,400+". The building is now a parish community centre.

Stained Glass in St Michael's Church - Mere
Detail of the stained glass in the west window of the tower. It was designed by Henry Hughes, and given by John Phillips to commemorate the church's restoration in 1864.
