Woolstore Theatre, Codford St Peter
Most theatres come with an interesting history, the Woolstore is no exception! It was, as its name suggests, an old building used from 1758 to collect all the fleeces from the local farms, grade and store them until they were ready to be taken to the mill for washing and eventual weaving. The building has since been used as the village hall, Sergeant's mess, dance hall, private theatre and is now a community theatre.

Woolstore Theatre
Codford's theatre started life as a wool storage warehouse, but was converted around 1906 into a cinema; many Australian and New zealand troops stationed in the village during WWI visited it. It was then converted again into the village hall once peace broke out. Colonel Ralph Sneyd moved to Codford and converted the hall into a theatre, largely for the use of his second wife. Although the theatre has become part of the community, it remains a working theatre today. Grade II listed.
