Bath Street with Christmas decorations
Either side of Bath Street has colonnades of Ionic Columns. High quality shops are brightly lit to attract the Christmas shoppers - though this was one of Bath's quieter city centre streets on this evening.

Bath Street, Bath
A noble piece of Georgian town planning, built as part of the Bath Improvement Act, 1789, and laid out by Thomas Baldwin from 1791. Each side has a continuos Ionic colonnade, wide enough to provide "shelter for sedan chairs carrying patients between baths". Grade I listed. Only the facades of the north side survive, and most of the original shopfronts have also been lost.

Egg-and-dart in Parsonage Lane
The doorway, windows and gateway tucked away down this unprepossessing side street are finely carved with egg-and-dart moulding and other ornamentation including a pair of cupids. There was once a brewery behind them.
