How long had the tree been there?
The brown mound edged with setts that looks like a flowerbed is the site of a tree that has been felled and stump-ground. "It was diseased" said a passer-by. I bet it was an old hedgerow oak that had had enough of urban life. Across Station Road is the ground of the Knowle & Dorridge Cricket Club.
