Across roadworks to the P?irc na h?ireann
The green field beyond the foreground and the fencing is the premises of Páirc na hÉireann, a sports facility for Gaelic games and sports in the West Midlands. The foreground works are associated with the construction of a new link road from the M42 to the A45, part of a scheme to reduce traffic congestion at the existing M42 junction 6.

M42 Junction 6 improvements scheme
Part of the route of a new dual carriageway being built to alleviate traffic congestion at J6 of the M42 (the A45 interchange). The new 'link road' will run from the M42 a mile or so to the south-east of here, cutting diagonally northwards to join into the A45 at the existing Bickenhill interchange just east of the airport. Here it is crossing Catherine de Barnes Lane, and the photo is looking in the general direction of the Shadowbrook Meadows Nature Reserve, an SSSI run by the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust. How much of that site remains unaffected I have not been able to establish yet, but judging by the width of these works, I suspect very little remains. Hey ho, so much for SSSI designation. Just to the north, it also cuts across several footpaths, and a number of fields which I know contained remnant medieval ridge-and-furrow patterns. Quite possibly all gone now.
