Seen from the railway. However, I know this place better from the road as it was outside this place that I was involved in motor-cycling accident in (now get this) 1967.

Birmingham Canal Navigations near Smethwick, Sandwell
Looking north-west on a very dull morning towards Sandwell and Wolverhampton, this is the Birmingham Canal Navigations New Main Line, engineered by Thomas Telford and mostly completed 1824-1827. One of his improvements was to have towpaths on both sides of the water. Derelict buildings and the chimney of the old Soho Foundry are on the right.

Birmingham Canal Navigations near Smethwick, Sandwell
Looking north-west on a very dull drizzly morning* towards Sandwell and Wolverhampton, this is the Birmingham Canal Navigations New Main Line, engineered by Thomas Telford and mostly completed 1824-1827. One of his improvements was to have towpaths on both sides of the water. Derelict buildings and the chimney of the old Soho Foundry are on the right. * I apologise for the blemishes on this image, caused by tiny water droplets on the lens.
