Birthplace of a city
Birmingham is located on 3 rivers - The Rea (over which this bridge is located), the Cole & the Tame. If you ride the NCR 5 you will cross this bridge. It is known that Birmingham grew out of the Anglo-Saxon settlement founded a few yards from the river at this point.

River Rea After Passing Under Gooch Street
The Rea has just passed under Gooch Street with the bridge decorated with metalwork inscriptions on either side telling of the founding of Birmingham by the Anglian King Beorma.
