Rainbow coloured milepost, Hurst Street, Birmingham
This is the National Cycle Network route 5 milepost in Hurst Street. It used to be a conventional black, as shown in my photograph from February 2010:- Image A few days ago, to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the network, the charity Sustrans repainted the milepost in a vivid rainbow of colours. This will certainly bring the network to people's attention. The harsh lighting has emphasized the intriguing shadows cast by a nearby lamppost and tree. Photograph kindly supplied by Martin Phelan who is both a Geograph member and Sustrans volunteer and who was involved in the repainting.
