Fazeley Street
The railway bridge in the middle distance carries the main line between Birmingham New St & London Euston just before it plunges beneath central Birmingham. A few yards behind me was (& as far as I know, still is) the HQ of Ty-Phoo Tea.

Goldenrod, New Canal Street, Birmingham
Canadian goldenrod I think, solidago canadensis. "Birmingham has an abundance of goldenrod, probably because it is a common allotment plant, and the city has a long tradition of 'guinea gardens' and allotments." (Richard Mabey, Weeds, Profile Books, 2010).

A new park in waiting
The extensive East Side Park is planned, incorporating Park Street Gardens, a former burial ground. In the foreground is the remodelled Albert Street. On the viaduct a Central Trains service (possibly Nottingham-Cardiff) approaches New Street station, with Fazeley Street heading south-east through East Side. On the skyline, left, is Birmingham City's football stadium St Andrew's in

Premier Plating Jigs, 16-17 New Bartholomew Street, Digbeth, Birmingham
Manufacturing does still go on in Birmingham and in this factory, Premier Plating Jigs design and manufacture jigs, PVC coating and other specialised items. The business was established in 1981, after the closure of F.O. Thomas Ltd., which had made electroplating jigs there from 1967. At an earlier time the building was used by a sheet metal working company established in 1921, but part of their name has worn off the building. The building is probably much older than that date.
