Former King Edward Inn, Corporation Street, Birmingham
A fine Edwardian pub in red brick and terracotta, its corner turret with a clock and topped by a dome. Helpfully dated 1905. Nice lettering above the ground floor too.
I think it was defunct at the time of the photo.

Closed public house
King Edward Inn of 1905. A magnificent confection in terracotta (literally - baked earth) mouldings. I think in the old days there was some drinking there at lunchtimes from staff at the nearby General Hospital (now the Princess of Wales' Children's Hospital) - this practice can now get you sent home, at the least.

Approaching a subway from the east side of Lancaster Circus, Birmingham
Behind the camera is Kiln Subway from Lancaster Circus open space. On the right is Lancaster Circus the road. On the left are council offices. The A38 on its flyover becomes Corporation Street (part 3). The subway ahead leads to Aston Triangle, Aston University and Aston Science Park.

Telephone Exchange, New Town Row
Situated at the northern end of Corporation Street, Birmingham, it occupies the first floor of the UNITE students building "The Heights". Formerly known as ASTon Cross, it now has 0121-333, 359 and 380 numbers. The entrance to the TE is from Staniforth Street and its postcode is B4 7DP.
