Sunburst of umbrellas surrounding a wall light, Snow Hill station
A wry comment on commuting and lost property – perhaps also a reminder to 'customers' to "make sure you take all your personal possessions with you when leaving the train".

Livery Street entrance to Snow Hill station
It looks fairly new, and must give more convenient access to the business district to the west of the station.

Arches under Snow Hill station, seen from Livery Street
The arch in the foreground, at the right hand side of the photo, is occupied by Home Foods - market by Lituanica, a Lithuanian food shop. Behind it and to the left is Connolly's wine shop, and beyond that the Livery Street entrance to the station.

Snow Hill Station (Great Western Railway)
Derelict, but still impressive. Looking towards the main departure platform for London-bound trains. All the trackwork shown is out of use. The only trains to use the station operate from bay platforms just out of sight to the right. The girders between the tracks in the foreground form the bridge over Great Charles Street. A 2006 photo from almost the same spot can be seen here:

Steam train at Birmingham Snow Hill
A southbound freight train tops the incline into the station. The locospotters on both visible platform ends are typical of the post-WWII period.

Snow Hill Station (GWR) - the last services
The last services from Snow Hill before it closed in 1972 operated from these two bay platforms (3 & 4) sited within the width of the main northbound platform. Here, on the right, a single coach railcar departs. The destination on the blind is 'Hartlebury' but I think it only went as far as Langley Green. On the left a similar railcar awaits departure for Wolverhampton Low Level. The girders between the tracks are of the bridge over Great Charles Street.
