Last Remaining Council Houses on the Ley Hill Farm Estate.
In 1957 I moved to a house in Ley Hill Farm Road, just around the corner from this pair in Rhayader Road, when it was newly built. They seem to be the last remaining example of the properties built here by the "Shutter and pour concrete" method. I watched the rest of the estate being built around me, often with the work going on into the night under floodlights. The houses were a great improvement on my previous home in Kings Heath. A two-up-two-down with the toilet at the end of the yard. The estate lasted less than sixty years before being demolished and replaced.
