Bridge Number 79, in the shadows to the right, is one of two skewed bridges in Selly Oak that take the railway over the canal to its east side and then back. The other is Image The railway formerly formed part of the Midland Railway's Birmingham West suburban network.

Bridge 79, Worcester & Birmingham Canal
Here the Bristol - Birmingham railway crosses the canal, one of two such crossings within a kilometre. The narrow passage under the bridge is typical of the Midlands canal network and keeps boaters on their toes.
