Phoenix from the ashes - Erdington, Birmingham
The parish church of St Barnabas, Erdington, was the first church the people of Erdington could call their own. Built 1822-23 to a design by Thomas Rickman, it was consecrated in 1824. In 2007 a major part of the church was destroyed by fire, thought to be the work of arsonists. It was rebuilt 2011-12 with the extension pictured, which includes the Harbour Cafe. Time photo taken 3.42 pm BST (British Summer Time).
