School of Jewellery, Vittoria Street, Birmingham
A showy Venetian- or Lombardo-Gothic facade with stripey voussoirs and colonnettes between the first floor windows. It was built as a goldsmith's factory to the designs of J.G. Bland, 1865, pre-dating the school which moved here in 1890. The rather regrettable top storey dates from 1906. Grade II listed.
In a way it still functions as a jewellery school but now as part of the University of Central England's Birmingham Institute of Art and Design.

Entrance to 68 Vittoria Street, Jewellery Quarter
This ornate building houses Frank B Scragg & Co who specialise in picture framing and hanging systems, and Ben Lewis, Jewellers. I find the symmetry very pleasing.
