The listing remarks that they represent "a very rare surviving example of a distinctive type of working-class housing once found throughout Birmingham which ... demonstrates the level and quality of accommodation considered to represent superior provision in a rapidly expanding C19 industrial community of national significance." Grade II listed.
The one on the right has a good surviving ghost sign (

It reads: "Jones and Palmer / Printers / Stationers / Bookbinders / Jewellery Work A Speciality / Sealing Wax Papers & String / Etc Etc".
The firm still exists, although it is now more about PR than printing.

This fine entrance is for Manton - silversmith and cut glass manufacturer, established 1834. Note the setts in front of the building and heading down the narrow lane out of sight to the left. The building appears to be dated 1913.

George and Dragon
This grade two listed red brick pub is on Powell St in the jewellry quarter of Birmingham. It was first built in 1820 and the front rebuilt about 1860. It appeared to be in poor condition but was surrounded with scaffolding so perhaps it is being renovated.
