Edgbaston Cricket Ground: the scoreboard
There has been so much redevelopment at Edgbaston that the old scoreboard (were I given to clichés I should call it "iconic") is probably the only part traditionalists now recognise. On the first day of the County Championship match against Nottinghamshire Ian Westwood had become the first of three Warwickshire centurions. He was eventually out for 171, while his captain, Jim Troughton, made 151 and Ricky Clarke 126 of a daunting 574 for 7 declared compiled over the first day and a half. Daunted, Notts collapsed twice and lost by an innings and 114, but not before Alex Hales (106 not out) had become the game's fourth century-maker.

Edgbaston: watching cricket in the sun
Warwickshire played Nottinghamshire during the heatwave in mid-July 2013. The spectators shown here probably enjoyed the result - a comfortable Warwickshire win - more than the photographer did. The houses of Eastwood Road are in the background.

Edgbaston: a new typeface on the scoreboard
The scoreboard at the City End has had a facelift since I was last here, in 2016. For an idea of what it looked like in 2011, see Image

Test Match at Edgbaston Cricket Ground
Spectators and scoreboard viewed from the Eric Hollies Stand on a rain-shortened Saturday afternoon. This was day 3 of the 1st Test Match between England and South Africa in July 2003 where Graeme Smith's score of 277 was the highlight. Match and series were both drawn.
