St Albans: Beech Bottom Dyke
This massive bank and ditch forms part of the pre-Roman earthwork that ran from the Belgic city of Verulamium to Wheathampstead. Seen here from near Valley Road, it was built between 50 B.C. and 50 A.D., most likely during the latter half of that period.
