De Novo Place
Built in around 2000 on the site of the former Adult School. The site behind it, also now flats, was formerly the site of the Gaumont Cinema, opened in 1922 as the Grand Cinema Palace. From 1950 it was named the Gaumont, but closed in 1973, serving as a bingo club until 1973.

All aboard for Marshalswick
A 341 departs St. Albans City station for the suburbs. Originally built as a coach, now demoted to bus duties, RMC1497 sports National Bus Company leaf green livery. London Country green was much darker than this. The London Country Routemasters were retired quite a few years back, but see Image for a preserved example in the city centre.

09:30 St. Albans City Station
Buses had been passing through the station one or two at a time, then suddenly at 09:30 all the island stands had buses with others queuing behind! Presumably the timetables are planned to connect with London bound services - or perhaps it was just a result of rush hour traffic. Anyway, the Uno buses certainly make for a colourful start to the day! Uno is the operating name of UniversityBus. The company was set up by the University of Hertfordshire in 1992 to provide student transport to the expanding university from local areas as well as improving east-west travel across the county and opening up new links from North London. It is now a major bus service provider.

Victoria Square
Housed in the former St Albans Prison, which had been built in 1867 and served in that role until the 1920s. For many years it was then used as a council depot, but has now been redeveloped for offices, including the local registry office in the gatehouse. The entrance was made famous by its use in the title sequence of the 1970s BBC comedy series "Porridge". It is locally listed.
